This past week on one of my hikes, captured some quick snaps using my 55-200mm telephoto zoom lens. In a pinch it can be used as an impromptu close-up lens. Typically zooms are used for distant objects. In this case, these images were taken around 3 feet away. Ice when it thaws and re-freezes can create layers and bubbles as air passes under the surface. The first image is of matted down marsh grasses. Second air bubbles and the third is thicker ice having been broken up over time.
